Event Overview

Thank you all for reviewing our event expectations. As the leader for this event, I want to ensure that we run this tournament in a professional and inclusive manner while also keeping the focus on fun, community and cultural connections. This event is an excellent opportunity for families to come together, enjoy some friendly competition, and honor the rich culture and heritage of the Metis Nation.

First and foremost, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Fleming, and I'll be facilitating this tournament. Throughout the event, I'll be here to answer any questions, address concerns, and make sure everyone has a great time. Contact info is rfleming@metis.org

Before we get into the details, I'd like to take a moment to recognize the significance of celebrating the Metis Nation. It's essential that we approach this event with respect and appreciation for the culture, history, and traditions of the Metis people. We can use this occasion not only for fun but also as a chance to learn and share in a meaningful way.

Now, let's discuss the logistics of the tournament. As mentioned earlier, this event will be family-oriented, and we'll have a tent and BBQ available on-site at Callingwood Arena for everyone to enjoy from 11:30-2:30 each day with hamburgers and hotdogs. We also have space in the Callingwood Arena field where the tent is located for anyone who wishes to use the field all day.

The tournament itself will consist of 4 round robin games followed with playoff for the top 4 teams. We will ensure that the games are enjoyable for participants of all ages and skill levels.

In order to create a fair and balanced experience, we'll have a set of rules and guidelines for each game. These have been posted on the Metiscup.ca website. I encourage everyone to review them beforehand and raise any questions you might have.

For those who are not actively participating in the games, As mentioned we'll have a tent and BBQ and entertainment options available throughout the day.

Lastly, in line with our commitment to hosting a family-friendly and respectful event, I want to reiterate that there will be a strict zero-tolerance policy for the consumption of alcohol or drugs during the entire duration of the event.

The safety and well-being of all attendees, especially families and children, are of the utmost importance to us. Consuming alcohol or drugs on the premises would not only be against the spirit of this celebration but also potentially create an unsafe environment for everyone involved.

We kindly request all participants to adhere to this policy and support us in creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. We trust that everyone will respect this rule and help ensure that this event remains focused on fun, camaraderie, and celebrating the rich culture of the Metis Nation.

If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding this policy or any other aspect of the event, please feel free to reach out to me directly. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, and together, we can make this a memorable and enjoyable occasion for all.

Thank you once again for your understanding and commitment to upholding the values of this event and for being a part of this special occasion, and let's make this a memorable and joyous celebration of the Metis Nation!
